American Coastal Living

Classic coastal style with  vintage twist.

I am a firm believer that big style doesn’t necessarily require a big budget. This classic beach house belonging to Bridget, one half of the cute  DIY Playbook‘s, is living proof. By slowly collecting inexpensive pieces and adorable finds over time, she has created a sweet home with a relaxed coastal feel. I love the vintage feel of the bar cart, the cosy reading nook and the playful coastal wall art.

Autumn Living

Celebrate the best Autumn has to offer with vases filled with Autumn leaves, roaring fires, romantic candles and long baths. Cosy up living spaces with rugs, woollen blankets, sheepskin throws and knitted cushions to snuggle into. There's nothing better than embracing a chilly day with a home baked pie warm from the oven, homemade pumpkin soup and a hearty, slow cooked casserole for dinner with a glass of heart warming red! While away afternoons with good books, classic DVD's, a game of scrabble or a challenging puzzle.

Trend Alert : DIY Dipped Furniture

DIY Dip Dyed Furniture
I know I know…it is the ‘new’ thing and we don’t want to over do it….but…it’s just so fabulous that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to chat about furniture dipped in paint!!!!

Easy to do and easy to change back when you get sick of it!

Some quick tips:
Step 1: Grab a piece of furniture you’re wanting to pretty up. A chair might be the easiest to start with.

Step 2: Choose your paint and go to your local hardware store to buy it – glossy paint is always best, find the best quality neon/pastel acrylic paint you can. Depending on the type of furniture spray paint might be the best and most convenient option (and more fun!).

Step 3: Put tape where you want you’re your new colour to start (make sure your under coat is well and truly dry before you do this).

Step 4: Now, go to town and enjoy….feel free to use a sponge to spot the paint onto your piece and touch up with a brush later to avoid heavy brush strokes

TIP: Check antique or op shops for older chairs or stools that you can play around with.

You will always find a place for something you love!!!

Rugged Beauty

Getting cosy for Autumn.

This Autumn bunker down with a palette
of grey, white and black warmed up with natural timber tones.
Tactile textures play a big part in creating a warm and cosy beach house.
Think chunky weaves reminiscent of
fishermen's jumpers and fishing nets for throws and cushions.
Pile up cushions and knitted blankets,
set the fire and stack up logs by the fireplace to create an inviting sanctuary.
Serve up frothy cappuccinos and cakes warm from the oven
and settle in for a relaxed weekend.

Country Road have got just the right homewares to keep you on trend this season.
